Prairie Restoration Site Demonstration

Prairie Restoration Site Demonstration

Interested in prairie restoration but not sure where to begin?  Over the last several years, Mary and Jim Ratos have worked hard to clear invasive plants, recover, and preserve their land located on the shores of Green Lake while establishing a new prairie.

Join us for this informative site demonstration on Saturday, August 24th from 9 am-11 am just off of Highway 73 in Markesan.  This event is at a stunning location on Green Lake that is intended for individuals that are interested in prairie restoration.  In addition to prairie restoration, participants can also see shoreland and sedge meadow restoration examples.

This event is free, but registration is required due to high demand and limited space.  Register here and get more information about the event location.

Please leave dogs at home for this Green Team Outing.  Participants are also asked to wear clean shoes clean of mud to assure that invasive seeds are not brought to the property.

Green Team Events

In 2008, the Green Lake Association, the Green Lake Conservancy, the Green Lake Sanitary District, and the Green Lake School District partnered to form the Green Team in an effort to introduce and share with the public the special, unusual or unknown natural features in the Green Lake area through the talents of volunteers.
