GLA Presents and Receives Award at Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance Conference
Earlier this week, the GLA attended the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance’s 17th annual Watershed Conference and received a Watershed Hero Impact Award at the Alliance’s Inaugural Watershed Celebration. The award recognizes individuals and organizations working towards the protection, restoration, and sustainability of the water resources of the Fox-Wolf River Basin in Northeast Wisconsin.
The conference was held Tuesday, March 1 – Wednesday, March 2 at the Oshkosh Convention Center and included a wide variety of sessions concerning watershed management. The evening celebration consisted of a reception, music, Watershed Hero Impact Award presentation, and a special presentation on Watershed Photography by Andrew Sabai.
Aside from receiving the Watershed Hero Impact Award, Executive Director, Stephanie Prellwitz and Board of Director, Bob Wallace, presented the Alternative Hypotheses of Green Lake’s Metalimnetic Oxygen Hypoxia during a breakout session at the conference.
Their presentation summarized specific, testable hypotheses regarding phosphorus loading and other potential drivers of Green Lake’s metalimnetic oxygen hypoxia, as well as limnological monitoring and modeling being pursued to develop an appropriate management strategy to achieve water quality goals.
