Prellwitz Named as Executive Director

March 12, 2014 – The Board of Directors of the Green Lake Association (GLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Prellwitz as Executive Director. Prellwitz will lead the organization in its mission to promote the conservation of Big Green Lake through its lake management efforts, watershed education and outreach events.

“Stephanie brings an ideal mix of training, judgment and passion to this position,” says long-time Director, John Nelson. “She’s exactly what we need to take the GLA forward at this critical time in our Lake’s history.”

As Executive Director of the GLA, Prellwitz will oversee an organization that represents more than 600 households and businesses in Green Lake, Ripon and beyond. Working in collaboration with its partners, the organization supports stewardship efforts that protect Green Lake and was instrumental in the development of the Lake Management Plan.

“It’s an absolute honor to serve the Green Lake Association in this new role,” said Prellwitz. “The lake is at an ecological tipping point and our work is more important than ever. We are interested in science-based solutions that address the full magnitude of preserving this unique natural resource. Our organization is actively working towards building the legacy of a cleaner, healthier Green Lake, and I am thrilled to be a part of this significant work.”

Prellwitz has served the GLA since 2013 as its Interim Executive Director. Before joining the GLA, Prellwitz worked as a stormwater engineer and received her BS and MS in Biological Systems Engineering where she researched improving runoff quality using constructed wetlands. Her environmental background includes field research, engineering design and public education.

The organization’s Board of Directors also announces Kate Mittelstadt as President and Mike Maddock as Vice President, both previously serving as Directors of the organization, and Paul Meuer as its Project and Communication Manager. Meuer, an Environmental Studies graduate of Ripon College with experience in local environmental and sustainability issues, previously served the organization as its Interim Outreach Coordinator.
