It’s been a busy year at the GLA, and we are excited to tell you all about it! Join us for this opportunity to learn how the GLA is leveraging our financial resources and aligning strategic partnerships in this unprecedented organizational response aimed at improving water quality.
This is a chance for GLA members to meet staff, our Board of Directors and neighbors to learn more about our work and activities. We will briefly review our previous year’s financial records and vote for new board members. Afterwards, we will highlight major GLA priorities and initiatives.

Join the Green Team for a look into the exciting world of beekeeping! Join Jesse Nodolf, local beekeeper, as he explains the complex life of honey bees, how they produce honey, and how that honey is harvested for us to enjoy!
In addition, participants will enjoy a tour of Tuleta Hill Prairie, a restored prairie that is now part of the Green Lake Conservancy! Learn how native prairie plants support healthy honey bees and how pesticides and the destruction of habitat are creating a global epidemic for bees.

Join the Green Team and Master Naturalist, Tom Wagner, as we explore the mysterious world of bats! Featuring a discussion from bat experts, participants will learn all about bats, and common misconceptions will be debunked. Afterwards, we’ll head outdoors to use special equipment that will track bats as they fly through the air!

Summer in Green Lake is just unfolding, but the Green Lake Association is already busy implementing robust strategies on behalf of a cleaner Big Green.
The public is invited to attend the Green Lake Association’s annual meeting on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 9-11 AM at the Goose Blind Grill & Bar, 512 Gold Street, Green Lake. This is an opportunity to celebrate and assess the previous year and to launch new programs and initiatives. Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Paddle and Hike at Tichora
Saturday, June 9, 8:30-10:30 AM
Acquired in 2018 by the Green Lake Conservancy, this 40 acre parcel of undeveloped land was formerly operated as Camp Grow. Located along Green Lake’s unspoiled south shore in Dickinson Bay, it also borders Spring Lake to create a riparian habitat for a large diversity of wildlife. An exceptionally scenic property with sandstone cliffs, shallow caves and towering trees, Tichora features hiking and other allowable uses under the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Grant program.
This leisurely tour is good for all skill leveled paddlers and hikers. Go your own pace, race your friends and meet other Green Lake nature enthusiasts on this tour of Tichora.
GEAR TO BRING:
Bring your kayaks/canoes, equipment, life vests, drinks, and good walking shoes.
PARKING AND LAUNCH SITE:
The event will start and end at Spring Valley County Park located at the east end of Spring Lake. To get to the launch site turn north from CO K onto Lakeview RD. Once on Lakeview Rd in a short distance you will turn left at the Spring Valley Park sign onto Spring Lake Rd. The park and launch site are located at the end of Spring Lake Rd.
