Moonlight Walk and Bonfire | POSTPONED @ Sugar Island
Feb 20 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

UPDATE from 2/19/2016 at 1:50 PM: After checking on ice conditions at Sunset Park and the Silver Creek Estuary, we have made the decision to POSTPONE the Moonlight Walk scheduled for Saturday.  Though the ice thickness is suitable and safe, the walk to would be very slippery.  We will reschedule the Moonlight Walk and update this page with the new date shortly!

Discover the splendors of Green Lake in the winter with a moonlight walk with the Green Team on Saturday, February 20 from 6:30-8:30 PM.  Candles illuminate the way as participants make their way across the ice to Sugar Island.

Following a short hike, participants can warm up and chat with friends and neighbors in front of a roaring bonfire, while sipping hot chocolate.  Hot chocolate will be provided by the Green Team, but please be sure to bring along your own cup or thermos.  Make the experience complete Moonlight Walk3 1-11-14by bringing along your own sandwiches, s’ mores, or hot dogs to cook over the fire.

A nearly full moon and a candlelit trail will provide light, but participants might want to bring a flashlight for additional light while walking.  Please note that the walk to and from Sugar Island is about half a mile.  Have snowshoes?  Want to bring a sled for children?  Bring them along!

Stay up to date on these event details by checking out the Events Calendar of the Green Lake Association at www.greenlakeassociation.com.

Bring a cup or thermos for hot chocolate, and a flashlight for hiking.  Feel free to bring snowshoes, though they are not required. Sleds are also welcome.
