Board of Directors

The Green Lake Association’s Articles of Incorporation provide for a board of no less than five and no more than eleven directors, each to serve a three-year term, and four officers – President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer. The GLA Board of Directors meet numerous times throughout the year at the Town Square in Green Lake. For more details regarding dates and times, please visit our calendar.

Cynthia Smith-President

Education:Marquette University Law School, Kenyon College. Employment: Attorney

Kate Mittelstadt – Vice President

Education: BS Sport Marketing and Management with a certificate of Business, Indiana University. Occupation: Anti-Doping Director for the World Triathlon Corporation

Rich Dickard—Treasurer

Education: BS Accounting Miami University. Occupation: Retired. Formerly the Managing Director of Wachovia Capital Finance. Special Interests: President of Norwegian Oaks Property Owner’s Association, organic gardening, fishing, boating, golfing, and cooking

Marty Valasek – Secretary

Tony Aiello

Education: BS Business and Marketing Management, University of Miami, FL and Northwestern Illinois University. Occupation: General Contractor. Other Affiliations: Forest Park, IL “Main Streets” Board 2002-2006. Special Interests: Cars, boating, and buildings

Phil Burkart

Education: BS Business Administration, Marquette University and MBA – University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Occupation: Shareholder/Division President, Burkart-Heisdorf Insurance Agency Inc. Specializing in municipal and lake area homes and business insurance

Jennifer Hawley

Education: UW Fond du Lac, Moraine Park Technical College and the School of Landscape Design. Occupation:  Director of Design and Sales, Commonwealth Landscaping and Maintenance. Other Affiliations: Committee member for Agnesian Healthcare, former Board of Director for Thrivent Financial (Fond du Lac County), Master Gardener of Wisconsin. Special Interests: Hiking, kayaking, and gardening

John Nelson

Education: BS Mechanical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, Bradley University and Master of Science Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Occupation: Consultant to the design and construction industry and an adjunct professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Other Affiliations: Gaylord Nelson Institute Board of Visitors. Special Interests: John’s hobbies include biking, skiing, piano, and restoring old Chevy pickup trucks.

John Lundstrom

Education: Elgin Community College and the University of Illinois. Occupation: Retired President of Lundstrom Insurance Agency, Elgin, IL. Other Affiliations: Served on Compassion International in Colorado Springs, CO as Director Emeritus for 25 years, the Elgrin, IL Salvation Army, the Green Lake Conference Center for six years, and the Lawsonia Board of Directors for four years.

Mike Maddock

Education: BFA, Design from Iowa State; Attended the KMI Management Program at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Graduate of the Birthing of Giants Entrepreneurship Program offered via MIT. Occupation: CEO, Founding Partner of Maddock Douglas. Other Affiliations: He’s launched three successful businesses, co-chairs the Gathering of Titans entrepreneurial conclave at MIT, and is past president of Entrepreneurs’ Organization and future president of Young Presidents’ Organization, both chapters located in Chicago. Mike is a featured innovation columnist for Bloomberg Businessweek and the author of two books, “Free the Idea Monkey, to focus on what matters most” and “Brand New: Solving the Innovation Paradox.” Special Interests: Inventing, writing, fishing, cycling, and traveling.
