In 2007, the GLA Board of Directors created the position of Honorary Trustee. The purpose of this honor is to:
- recognize former GLA Directors who have continued to demonstrate their commitment to the Green Lake Association and Big Green Lake
- retain the allegiance of past leaders
- create a pool of committed and engaged leaders who may be available to consult and advise the board on matter of importance to Green Lake.
Honorary Trustee, Tom Caestecker
From July 1973 to July 1980, Tom served as Vice Chairman and Finance Committee member while on the GLA Board of Directors. He played a major role in bringing about the Anderson Associates shoreland planning study and initiating our quarterly newsletter. In 1980, Tom created the Charles and Marie Caestecker Award to honor the memory of his parents and their commitment to Green Lake. Tom continues to maintain his support of the Green Lake Association. When important issues arise, we can rely on Tom to provide background, suggestions and wisdom. His deep roots in the community and his love for this area are readily apparent – as is his support of the Green Lake Association.
Honorary Trustee, Dave Norton
The Norton family of Green Lake goes back at least 4 generations. Dave knows the background of just about everything regarding the lake. He intuitively understands that this lake is part of a much larger environment—those who preserve the environment, those who jobs depend on the environment, and those who abuse that environment. While serving on the GLA Board, he initiated the GLA program to provide life jackets to those who successfully complete the boating safety courses in Princeton and Green Lake. He also spearheaded the GLA program to provide financial assistance to the Princeton Fire and Water Rescue Department for its cold water diving equipment.
