Volunteer Opportunities

Do you want to share your angler expertise, mingle with other members, or get some physical exercise while helping eradicate buckthorn? Whatever your motivation or time availability, the GLA is interested in the skills that you can share with us.  Current volunteer opportunities include:

  • Youth Fishing Clinic/Junior Ice Fishing Outing Volunteer—Fishing clinic volunteer responsibilities range from pre-event to day of event responsibilities.  Distributing brochures and flyers, assembling station kits and goodie bags, helping with registration, taking pictures throughout the event, leading (or assisting with) fishing stations, sharing your ice fishing knowledge, and grilling food are examples of event volunteer opportunities.
  • Work Day Site Leader— Is there a particular Conservancy Partnership property that is located near where you live or does one hold a special meaning for you? Then being the point person for a specific site is the right volunteer job for you. Site leader responsibilities include selecting a property, scheduling a few work days in the spring and fall, providing guidance to work day volunteers on work days, and updating GLA staff about volunteer attendance and progress.
  • Work Day Volunteer—Volunteers are needed to help site leaders remove invasive species, such as Buckthorn, and trash from various properties that have been acquired by our partners, the Green Lake Conservancy Foundation and the Green Lake Sanitary District. Work days are typically scheduled for periodic Saturdays throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Our Conservancy lands are YOUR lands.  They are open to the public and we need your help to maintain them as close to their native states as possible.

  • Office Volunteer—Office volunteer responsibilities include a wide array of tasks such as helping bulk mail our quarterly newsletter, annual directory, and new member requests; delivering annual directories to local businesses; preparing annual renewal and leadership requests; data entry and filing.
  • Other Skills—Do you have other skills that you would like to share with the GLA? If you have a talent or skill, contact us. We can always use your help.

Whatever your time availability, whether you like to work solo or with others, from home or at the office, we have the right fit for you! If you would like to volunteer or if you have questions, please contact Jen Kaiser, 920-294-6480 or jenkaiser@greenlakeassociation.com.
