October 18, 2007—Green Lake Conference Center, Lawsonia, & Lindenwood Developers Request Annexation into City of Green Lake: Article Reprinted from GLA's 2007 4th Quarter Newsletter, times & tides
On October 18, 2007, an official for the Green Lake Conference Center—GLCC—(also known as the American Baptist Assembly) and other property owners within its boundaries delivered a petition to the City of Green Lake and the Town of Brooklyn to annex more than 900 acres into the City of Green Lake. The City’s Planning Commission may consider this petition in November.
What is the driving force behind Lindenwood Developers’ petition? Some wonder if the developer is seeking annexation by Green Lake because the Town of Brooklyn has rejected two of Lindenwood’s preliminary plats and the City’s requirements are less restrictive. Read More
September, 2007—Lawsonia Estates….In Limbo or On Track?: Article Reprinted from GLA's 2007 3rd Quarter Newsletter, times & tides
One component of GLA’s mission is to promote planned and orderly development of lakeshore and other property in the Green Lake area-consistent with its essentially single-family residential, recreational and farm character. Since word of a proposed gated subdivision by Lindenwood Development LLC in the Green Lake Conference Center became known, the Green Lake Association and the Joint Advisory Committee on Land Use Matters (JACLUM) have closely followed the events which surround this new project.
To more fully understand the Lawsonia Estates development plan, Steve Wood of JACLUM and Nancy Hill, GLA Executiv Director, have attended many public hearings and government meetings, listened to the concerns of those living in the conference center and to the developer’s presentations, and informed the GLA Board of Directors of the facts. The facts, however, have not been easily discerned – as the representatives of government, the public, JACLUM, and the GLA have come to realize.
