Green Lake Association's Honorary Trustees

Tom CaesteckerTom Caestecker

From July 1973 to July 1980, Tom served as Vice Chairman and Finance Committee member while on the GLA Board of Directors. He played a major role in bringing about the Anderson Associates shoreland planning study and initiating our quarterly newsletter. In fact, he won the competition for naming the newsletter the Times and Tides to reflect what was currently happening and what the future might hold for our lake.  The name endures today because it retains its appropriateness.

In 1980, Tom created the Charles and Marie Caestecker Award to honor the memory of his parents and their high regard for Green Lake.  The award goes only to those, who through his or her ability, interest, and leadership have exerted exceptional influence on affairs benefiting the Green Lake Community.

Tom continues to maintain his support of the Green Lake Association.  When important issues arise, we can rely on Tom to provide background, suggestions and wisdom.  His deep roots in the community and his love for this area are readily apparent – as is his support of the Green Lake Association.

Dave NortonDave Norton

The Norton family of Green Lake goes back at least 4 generations.  Dave knows the background of just about everything regarding the lake. When Dave served on the GLA Board of Directors, he insistently put lake issues into a bigger perspective and made us listen. He intuitively understands that this lake is part of a much larger environment—those who preserve the environment, those who jobs depend on the environment, and those who abuse that environment.

He knows who is who, what they do, what they want and why. He opened a lot of eyes to a different reality during his terms in office. While serving on the GLA Board, he initiated the GLA program to provide life jackets to those who successfully complete the boating safety courses in Princeton and Green Lake. He also spearheaded the GLA program to provide financial assistance to the Princeton Fire and Water Rescue Department for its cold water diving equipment. This department is the only one in Green Lake County capable of providing such extensive rescues. Dave brought this critical point to light because of his extensive contacts, networking, and different ways he enjoys the outdoors.

He accomplished so much more while serving on the GLA Board, and he has even more suggestions for improving the environment than we have time or resources to accomplish.  But with his help, we will continue trying.

So we thank both of these men for their persistence, fortitude, integrity and love of this beautiful resource.  Without people such as Tom and Dave, and the inspiration they provide, Green Lake wouldn't be the same.
