May

Saturday, May 1st, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.—Hammer's Trail Conservancy Parnership Work Day. Volunteers will be cutting and removing buckthorn and invasives near the trailhead for Hammer's Trail located in the Green Lake Conference Center (aka ABA) just south of the Tea House. This trail was the destination for January's Moonlight Walk and Chili which was attended by over 200 people. Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeves, solid shoes and work gloves.  If you have chain saws, please bring them. However, due to liability we request that only chainsaw owners operate their own chainsaws. In addition to mechanical buckthorn removal efforts, volunteers are needed for physically removing and piling the cut buckthorn. All levels of fitness are welcome.

Complimentary coffee (bring your own cup!) and sweets will be provided during intermittent breaks.  For those who are able, the group will be going to Christiano's for lunch afterwards. This is work, but it's "fun work" with a great feeling of accomplishment and camaraderie in the end.  And remember "sweat is good ......especially when enjoying eating pizza afterwards"!

If you can't make it, there will be a lot more opportunities to help in the future.  This is public Conservancy Land ....YOUR LAND .....that we are improving!  Please call the GLA office, 920-294-6480, or Jerry Specht,  920-229-4468, for questions. RSVP is not mandatory, but very much appreciated! Learn more about volunteering.
