Walking in a winter wonderland—The Green Team is mixing things up with an evening event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, February 4 for a Moonlight walk along Sunnyside Trail. Lake Management Plan Public Advisory Group—As an additional component to citizen participation in Big Green Lake's Management Plan, the Planning Team developed a public advisory group that consists of 10-14 individuals representing lake stakeholder groups within Fond du Lac and Green Lake Counties. The LMP Public Advisory Group (PAG) will meet once a month for about four months beginning February 2012. Learn more about the public advisory group.

Wetland Reform Bill to Be Voted on in February
On Tuesday, January 10 and Thursday, January 12, the Wisconsin Assembly and the Senate Natural Resources Committees held two public hearings regarding the proposed Wetland Reform Bill (LRB 2803/1). The proposed bill applies to the regulation of wetlands in Wisconsin that do not fall under federal regulation. The Senate and the Assembly are expected to vote on the final bill in February, 2012.
On Friday, January 13 Representative Joan Ballweg kindly met with representatives from the Green Lake Sanitary District, Green Lake Conservancy, the Green Lake County Land Conservation Department, and the Green Lake Association to discuss their concerns about the proposed wetland reform bill. Panel to hear repeal on phosphorus ban
A proposal to roll back a ban on displaying fertilizers with phosphorus was heard Tuesday, Jan. 10. The ban is a result of bipartisan legislation passed during a legislative session near the end of 2011 which requires retailers to keep the product in the back. Continue reading.
Wisconsin joins other states to appeal to the Supreme Court for relief from Asian Carp
On October 26, 2011, Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen took another step to protect Wisconsin’s natural resources from the effects of the Asian carp by joining the attorneys general of four other states -- Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- in a Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court.
